WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
The size of this post is proportional to the love of the city
In almost one month, 2 Airbnbs (blue), 3 couchsurfing (green), 3 “1000 stars” (red), greenhouse (orange). I slept almost in each part of Vancouver.
It’s such a diverse city ! ocean, mountain, forest surround it. So many populations: more than 30% are from Hong Kong and mainland China mostly in Richmond, 100.000 Iranians and British in West Vancouver, Indians in Burnaby, East Europe in Surrey. This ethnical concentration is not a good thing, but it’s about to improve. The downtown is pretty mixed.
This is the sky train and behind is the soccer stadium. they promote a lot the local team
A small part of the city is the most dangerous in Canada, Hastings, where the majority of the people are drug addicts. You can see quite often people with good gear looking for recyclable cans.
A very bourgeois street, as almost all Vancouver.
The toilet at the public library is like one on a stadium, you need to wait in a line.
the ocean brings a lot of big stumps on all beaches.
view from one of the 4 bridges which connect the peninsula to the South.
an apartment in one of these buildings costs more than 600.000 euros. It’s the second most expensive city in the world.
These tourist airplanes are like mosquitos: very frequent, and noisy. I cannot understand why are so cheap, 50$ for 30 minutes.
All the people are very fit, in the first days everyone was passing by, even if I had a quick walk.
Stanley Park has the size of Downtown, is natural reserve since 1890.
The big old trees save the landscape full of tall buildings of downtown. Otherwise it reminds me of Communism.
It’s nice the mix with old buildings
There is a part of about 20 houses, called Fisherman Village, which is in the harbor
All the houses are at the street, and behind there is another street for parking, electric lines, and garbage. Pretty weird architectural solution.
the very bourgeois part of the city: West Vancouver. There are a lot of retired Brits.
This is in Richmond, Chinese area.
